There are friends who come and go, and then there are the rare ones who become woven into your life like family. Aisha is one of those rare ones. We met years ago as colleagues in Nigeria, but over time, our connection deepened into something far more personal , the kind of friendship that quietly anchors you through all of life’s transitions.
Since I moved to the UK in 2023, so much has changed for me, new routines, new work, new everything but the bond with Aisha stayed. We hadn’t seen each other in person since I left Nija, but that changed this summer when we reunited in Blackpool for a long-overdue vacation.
From the moment we hugged, it felt like no time had passed at all. Everything was so seamless, so familiar like flipping back into a favorite chapter of a book you know by heart.
Our days in Blackpool were a beautiful blur of late-night conversations that stretched into laughter-filled hours, slow beach walks where we caught up on life, shared meals with family, and even a bit of dancing and spontaneity that reminded me how good it feels to just be. We made space for joy, for real conversations, and for a kind of presence that’s hard to find in the busyness of everyday life.
Being with Aisha again reminded me how rare it is to have someone who knew you before the glow-up , someone who walked with you through long workdays, hard choices, quiet prayers, and bold dreams. Reuniting in a different part of the world only made me appreciate more how real friendship isn’t limited by geography or time. When it’s solid, it simply flows with no explanations, no awkwardness, just presence.
It was a refreshing few days that filled my heart in ways I didn’t even know I needed. And as we said goodbye, I wasn’t sad ,just grateful. Because I know now that some connections aren’t shaped by proximity. They’re rooted in something deeper.
