Lessons from the life of a digital PM
Lessons from the life of a digital PM

Product management isn’t just about writing user stories, attending stand-ups, and launching features. It’s about helping every stakeholder, from leadership to frontline users, see the bigger picture of what you’re building and more importantly, why it matters.

Over my 13 years managing products across continents, one lesson I’ve had to learn (sometimes the hard way) is that a successful product manager is not just a translator of requirements, but a storyteller, a connector, and a strategist.

A product manager’s job is to continuously zoom out, ensuring everyone understands:

  • The user need this product addresses

  • The business outcome it contributes to

  • The context around technical limitations and external factors

  • The impact it will have on people’s daily lives

Product management lives at the intersection of strategy, empathy, and execution. And it’s at that intersection that stories get told, visions are shared, and products truly serve the people they’re built for.
